Parts and battery
This page gives the Relay ring’s size, its main parts and its battery life. All of them are design values for V1, the first version; some are estimates.
| Version | Width | Thickness | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|
| V1 (in design) | 8.0 mm | 2.93 mm at the band, 3.13 mm at the edges | 16 mAh curved cell |
| V2 (later) | 6.0 mm | about 2.2 mm | A custom cell inside the wall |
V1 is designed for US ring size 10. The cell sets its width.
Battery
Section titled “Battery”| What you do | Life for each charge (estimate) |
|---|---|
| 5 minutes of notes a day | about 6 to 8 weeks |
| 2 to 3 minutes of notes a day | about 3 months |
Asleep, the ring uses about 1 to 2 µA. It uses about 3 mA while it records, and about 5 mA for a few seconds while it sends. At one charge a month, the cell ages by time first: plan on about 2 to 3 years.
Charging
Section titled “Charging”Two gold-plated pins sit flush with the inside wall. A charging clip touches them. The charger takes power in only, so sweat can’t drain the cell.
